~~First Ever Giveaway!!!~~

CONGRATULATIONS to our winner Christy from Virginia!!! Christy said the one item that she can't live without is her baby swing (and hopefully soon it will be her nursing cover!) Thanks to everyone who entered, stay tuned for more giveaways!!!

While my sister was here for my shower she introduced me to an item that I never knew I couldn't live without, a nursing cover! She used it daily, and what seemed like constantly. I knew then that I simply couldn't live without one. So I began my search for the perfect nursing cover. It had to be functional and practical, yet stylish and chic. I stumbled across an Etsy store called Lilacs & Lollipops and they had exactly what I was looking for. Shabby Chic nursing covers in the cutest patterns! Now's the time to get excited... the wonderful girls at Lilacs and Lollipops have offered to give away one nursing cover to the winner of our first ever giveaway. They'll even let you pick the cover of your choice!
How to enter:
1. Become a follower of www.babyastor.blogspot.com
2. Check out the cuteness at http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilacslollipops
3. Comment on this post telling us the one baby item that you never knew you couldn't live without!

All entries will be entered into a drawing that will be randomly selected on January 22, 2010. Good luck, can't wait to hear those responses!

  2. I will have to say it was also a nursing cover for me too. I didn't have one with my first two kids and blankets just don't work as well!

  3. I count live without this so even if not chosen I'm going to get one!

  4. I am pregnant with my first baby, so I don't know yet what I couldn't live without. I am excited by this nursing cover suggestion and think I will quite like it (I'll have to buy something even if I don't win), but for variety sake, I also think I'll really like the Fisher Price "Whale of a tub" bathtub because it's so cute and gets great reviews from other moms. Thanks!

  6. I may just have to get one! I am currently breastfeeding and feel like I am always having trouble keeping my ta-tas covered up! ;) I currently use a blanket or a jacket, anything I can get my hands on but they are always falling off. Thanks for the suggestion!

    BTW You look fantastic!!!

  13. I am expecting my first baby, so I don't yet know what I can't live without. Every mom I've talked to has given me different recommendations for the items they can't live without!! But, I've been looking at nursing covers on Etsy, so I'd love to win one!!!!

  14. I personally could not live without my medela breast pump!! It was a life saver when I was engorged in the beginning, then I used it 3 times a day everyday once i returned to work.

  15. I am pregnant with my first baby so I am not sure yet what I cannot live without. I do plan on exclusively breast feeding so I am hoping this item (weather won or purchased) will be a God send. I was also told that when I was inconsolable as a babe, my mom would put me in the car seat and drive me around the neighborhood. Therefore, I am assuming a car seat as well!! Love your blog!

one of the baby items i LOVE and would have never purchased for myself, but i could honestly live without but wouldnt want to is...a wiper warmer. i like cleaning corbin's toosh with a warm wipe! can i have two? because the one i REALLY couldnt live without is my husbands sleep sound app on his iphone. we use white noise on it and he's out like a light!
i look forward to following your pregnancy journey!

  19. Jeesh-you make it sound like I was a feeding machine. Only every 3 hours ;) (as you'll soon find out!)

Best thing about these is the top has a bendable frame in it that let's you see the baby, but no one can see in. And it can still be easily folded into a purse or pocket.

Not sure what the poor guy next to me on the flight home thought of the whole thing.

  20. This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure what I couldn't live without. However, I love the idea of the nursing cover.

My sister-in-law used to just pull her breasts out whereever she was...it made everyone uncomfortable and I think a little tacky.

  21. Cute nursing covers!
Im going to check these out on Etsy!

I actually love my Germ Guardian, I can sanitize small items and my breast pump parts right in the nursery.

  22. I follow you :)
I nurse and don't have a cover but wish I did! So your contest is beyond sweet :)

Hmmm, what could I not live without (other than my adorable daughter of course) - really at first it was my boppy pillow. Nursing was REALLY hard at first and that helped so much. Now, it is the glider/ottoman.

  24. I am one week away from my EDD with my first...so not sure what I'll consider a must have. But my must haves during pregnancy have been Pepcid and my Snoogle.
I LOVE those nursing covers, though!

  25. I am following your blog now! The etsy shop is really cute!

One thing I don't think I would be able to live without is my jogging stroller.. I haven't had my baby yet, but I am thinking that it will come in handy when we need to get out and get some exercise!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I too have started to follow your blog...check out mine and follow it if you would like to see what you have to look forward to once your LO arrives!

The one baby item I could not live without is probably my sling. In fact, my daughter is snuggled in it right now as I type this. It calms her down and soothes her right to sleep. We've even had a few fussy nights where I couldn't put her down...but once I put her in the sling and walked around with her for a bit, she was out. I'm so glad I have a baby who loves the sling!

  27. I'm due next week with my first baby, so I don't know yet for sure what will be that item I couldn't live without. But I do really want a nursing cover!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Such cute nursing covers!! I would LOVE to have one of these!

I'm not due until September with my first baby, so I'm not sure yet what baby item I can't live without, but my sister-in-law has a 1 1/2 year old and one on the way and she would tell you she could never live without is her boppy.

  29. Everyone has told me I MUST stock up on muslin wraps as they are the things that they never knew they needed until they had a baby and I've heard it from multiple new moms now. These look really neat and practical, too, though!

I wouldn't have been able to live without my Boppy or My Breast Friend. Occasionally holding her of my own strength while nursing was okay but I'm glad I had a place to prop her up most of the time!!

  33. Okay, I know I'm only supposed to comment about ONE thing I couldn't do without, but after having my third baby (she's 10 mos now), I have two things. One is my Moby Wrap. The first time I was able to go to the store and use the potty with it on, I was sold! ;) The other is the type of nursing bra I am now absolutely in love with: The Bravado Body Silk Seamless Bra. Oh, yeah! This nursing cover would be perfect because at this point, my daughter doesn't like her head to be covered up and ends up pulling any cover I'm using right off! Peak-a-boo!

  38. Oh this would be a perfect gift for my best friend who is due next month. One thing I never thought I couldn't live without is definetely a baby wipe warmer - sounds unnecessary but it's saved us from a lot of screaming!

  39. How sweet! I love the kleo chocolate one!

I second the burp clothes, especially handmade ones! They ROCK! For some reason, wiping up spit up with a darling print of retro apples and pears, makes life better. lol mrsannieshaw@yahoo.com

  49. I couldn't live without my Boppy! I originally left it at home when I went into labor, but after I had my cesarean I asked my husband to bring it. It props him up after feeding, supports him when I'm nursing, my dog even loves snuggling in it!

  50. I will be a first time mom, but all of my friends that have children have nursing covers and they say it is so convenient! I love the patterns of these - they are awesome!

  51. i can not live without my swing! I would not have been able to shower without it!

  52. This is my first, and I'm trying to go low key on all the "stuff", I was told that a sling is crucial for mommy/baby bonding time! So I guess I'll go with that. But my SIL had a nursing cover and it was so great! Way better than the home videos of my mom all exposed with us attached, ew gross Dad! :-)

  53. I had 2 kids before I found a carseat stroller frame. I bought it and have used it for my last 2 kids and have often wondered how I ever made it through my first 2 without it. It is a stroller, but just the frame, so it folds down easily and pretty small, so it fits easily in the car. Then you just pop it out and put the car seat right in it without having to wake up the baby or anything. It's wonderful! And I love these nursing covers!! They are so cute and made so well!

  54. The one baby product that I couldn't live without is a carabiner to hold water bottles on my belt loop when I need two free hands!

  57. The car mirror. My girlfriend gave me one those mirrors so I could see Aidan while his car seat had to be rear facing.....it was a life saver. It could see why he was upset or if he was asleep.
